Most women who struggle on top are struggling for one strange reason: they found one way to come, it stopped working one night, and they had no second gear to shift into. So let's give you both gears up front. There are two engines on this ride. Here's each one in plain terms.
Engine A: the fullness grind
The first engine is a grind. You press down and rock your hips forward, and your whole outer sex — the soft lips, everything on the outside — works against the base of him. It builds a broad, pressing fullness through the front of you. No lifting. Just pressing and rocking.
This is the one most women already half-know. A lot of them found it on their own: "I can grind my clit on his pubic bone and it feels heavenly and I get to orgasm that way." That's the fullness grind talking. It's the common one, the one your body has probably already stumbled into. We'll take it apart in the next chapter.
Engine B: the pendulum
The second engine is a swing, and far fewer women have found it.
Take only half of him inside. The tight ring of muscle at your opening grips the middle of him. Now, instead of grinding down or lifting up, you rock that grip forward and back — like a gate swinging on a hinge. The hinge-post is him; the gate is you. That swing rakes across the most sensitive ring of tissue you have, all at once, and produces a wide, full kind of orgasm that the people who've found it call "blended."
This is the expert ride. It asks for a bit more precision, and it needs him to stay hard and hold still. It's worth a whole chapter too, and it gets one.
Two rules about how they fit together
Now the part that matters most, and both halves of it go against instinct.
First rule: they switch. They do not stack. You can't run both at once. Here's why — they're built on opposite settings of your body. The fullness grind wants your weight pressing down, your hips tilted forward, your legs spread a little wider. The pendulum wants your weight lifted up off him, so the grip is free to swing. Pressing down and lifting up are opposites. You can't do both in one motion any more than you can push a door shut and swing it open at the same time. So you pick one, ride it, and switch to the other when your body asks. (And the switching itself feels good — that's a later chapter.)
Second rule: neither one is better. This is not a beginner gear and an advanced gear, a lesser route and a "real" one. They're just two different doors into the same house. Which door opens for you depends on how your body is wired and what mood you're in tonight. One woman described riding "switching between bouncing up and down and grinding forwards and backwards… making myself cum twice," and — "I was screaming his name so loud." She wasn't picking the correct engine. She was running both.
The real skill
So here's the whole skill of this position, in one line: own the switch. Know you have two engines. Be able to reach for either one. That's the real guarantee — not one technique that always works, but two of them, plus the wisdom to feel which one your body is asking for tonight.
(One quick note so you're not confused later: there's a version where he sits up and you press your clitoris straight onto him — direct, sharp contact. That's a real thing, but it belongs to a different position, the seated one, which we treat on its own. The upright ride in this book runs on these two engines. Don't mix the seated grind into it.)
