Ch1 Β· You're Riding the Wrong Way

← Back to The Ride You Control β€” Woman on Top

Picture how it's supposed to look. She's up on top, lifting and dropping β€” the whole sit-up-and-down of it β€” and by the second minute her thighs are already burning. She's working hard. That part everyone gets right: the effort. And here's the cruel thing. The feeling that was almost there a moment ago slides further away the harder she works for it.

That's not bad luck. She's riding the wrong way β€” in two specific ways. Once you see them, you can't unsee them.

Misread one: the direction

The first mistake is going up and down.

Up-and-down is the camera's idea of this position. It photographs well. It looks athletic. And it sends almost nothing where you need it. To understand why, you need one fact about your own body β€” and it's a fact most women were never told.

Most of your clitoris is on the inside. The little spot you can see and touch is just the tip. Under the surface it keeps going: it splits into two legs that run down along both sides of your vaginal opening, and right there at the entrance it's joined by other sensitive tissue β€” a soft spongy patch in front and two bundles that swell up on either side when you're turned on. So the most wired-up part of you isn't deep inside. It wraps the entrance. It lives in the first inch or two, not at the bottom.

Now look at what bouncing does. Lifting straight up and dropping straight down drives him toward the deep part of you and skips right over that live entrance on the way. You're vaulting over the good wiring to reach the part that barely feels anything.

The fix is to stop lifting and start grinding. Instead of up-and-down, rock your hips front-to-back β€” forward and back β€” so the whole live entrance drags across him. Picture it like rocking in a chair instead of doing jumping jacks. Same seat, completely different motion. You're not climbing off him and dropping back on; you're staying down and rocking.

Lots of women already found this by accident. "On top I find grinding rather than up-and-down so much easier," one woman put it β€” and that "easier" is the giveaway. It's easier because it's right. She found the real engine of the position. She just didn't know it was the engine.

Misread two: the depth

The second mistake is going too deep β€” and this one is even more backwards than the first.

The instinct makes sense. Deeper feels like more. Taking him all the way in feels like you're not wasting any of him, like you're getting the full thing. So you sink all the way down.

But here's what's actually true: the deepest part of you is the dullest part of you. The far end of the vagina answers slowly and vaguely. And the cervix β€” the firm little dead-end at the very top β€” mostly just complains when you bump it; for a lot of women a hard cervix-hit is a sharp ouch, not a thrill. The wiring backs this up: the dense nerve endings cluster in the first third, up near the entrance, not at the deep end. Women keep reporting the same map β€” most of the feeling lives in the first couple of inches β€” and then sink all the way down anyway, because more is such a hard instinct to argue with.

So argue with it. Take only half of him. Not all the way β€” half, so the snug ring of muscle right at your opening grips the middle of him instead of swallowing him to the base. That keeps all the action up in the live zone, the first third, where the wiring actually is. (We'll do a lot more with this half-in idea later β€” it turns out to be the secret to the second, more powerful engine. For now, just take less.)

The whole reorientation, in two words

That's it. The entire reset this book asks for is two words long: shallower, and forward.

Half of him in, not all of him. Rocking front-to-back, not lifting up and down.

And here's the part that will feel strange at first: it will feel like you're doing less. You are doing less. That's the point. You've stopped spending your energy on the parts of him that don't pay you back β€” the deep dull bottom, the exhausting bounce β€” and started spending it on the inch that actually sets you off.

There's a woman in a forum somewhere describing the grind that finally works for her. Knees bent, feet waving in the air, hips circling. She calls it "so undignified and unsexy… but a 100% success rate of getting me off, and hard." Hold onto her, because she's the whole book in one sentence. She found that the wrong-looking way is the right-feeling way, dignity be damned. Everything after this chapter is just the why underneath what she already knows in her body.
